The Shire of Ashburton tendered works associated with the Onslow Skate Park slab replacement during 2024 as part of the ongoing improvement of the facility.

Wellington Park Court Artwork – East Perth, Western Australia
At Wellington Park in East Perth, sport, art and landscape come together in a bold public space designed to be experienced from every angle.
This large-scale court artwork was created for the City of Perth, transforming the recreational space into a vibrant landmark inspired by the site’s natural history. The design references the wetlands that once existed along Wellington Street before the area was developed, bringing the memory of the natural landscape back into the modern urban environment through colour, movement and form.
Sweeping curves, layered shapes and strong colour blocking flow across the court surface, creating an abstract interpretation of water, land and connection. Viewed from above, the artwork reveals itself as a striking composition. At ground level, it becomes an immersive space for play, movement and community interaction.
A Surface Designed for Performance
Beyond the visual impact, the project required a durable coating system capable of performing in a demanding outdoor environment while delivering sharp colour definition across a large-scale painted surface.
The court was mechanically prepared, etched, and primed before being coated with NuCourt RollCoat, NuTech’s acrylic sports surface coating designed specifically for basketball courts, multi-use play spaces, and recreational environments.
The scale of the artwork required approximately 24 x 15L pails, with every section carefully mapped and applied to bring the final concept to life.

Setting
On the Kohala Coast of Hawai‘i Island, the Fairmont Orchid’s oceanfront buildings face intense sun, salt air, and year-round guest traffic. Any finish must look immaculate and perform well under harsh coastal conditions.
The brief
Deliver a high-performance cool roof system in a custom colour that harmonises with the resort’s architecture and landscape, while enabling efficient application and minimal downtime.
System used
- Primer: NuTech Primer for strong adhesion and an even base.
- Topcoat: Two coats of NXT Cool Coat, a water-based, heat-reflective roof coating engineered for durable colour, weather resistance, and long-term appearance retention.
Application & partners
Work was completed in December 2024 by Nutech-approved applicators and suppliers: Cool Roof Store and Leak Master Roofing. Their coordination across multiple roof sections ensured clean cut-ins, consistent film build, and a smooth, uniform finish.
Result
A fresh, cohesive coastal tone that elevates curb appeal from every vantage, pool deck to shoreline, while delivering the reflective performance today’s hospitality properties expect.
Training Application
This Hollywood home with an asphalt shingle roof was restored as a part of a Nutech Paint training program, with the processing being recorded for future reference. The entire application took one day as the weather was warm and drying times were quick. The structure of the roof was sound, and no tiles were damaged, however, due to the aging and weathered look, the homeowner wished coat it. The new coating was finished in time for a wedding reception held in the garden.
Initially, the roof was inspected for damage, then lightly cleaned to avoid dislodging any asphalt tiles. Once the debris and dirt had been removed, the entire surface was primed using Nutech Paint’s Asphalt Primer in white.
With the warm temperature, each coat was touch dry in a short amount of time and two coats of NXT Cool Coat in Beige Low-Sheen could be applied.
A Nutech Paint representative was present for the whole day, as this was a training program for the applicator.

All of them work together so that, both a building, its structure and content, protect and extend the life of the families who occupy them, always in a sustainable way for the environment.
